At N5BRZ Cares, we recognize the vital role of SKYWARN® in protecting lives and property during severe weather. As a program developed by the National Weather Service (NWS), Skywarn relies on trained volunteer spotters to provide real-time, ground-level weather reports that improve the accuracy and timeliness of official warnings. These reports help emergency management teams, first responders, and the public prepare for and respond to dangerous conditions like tornadoes, flash floods, and severe thunderstorms.
However, effective emergency communication requires more than just volunteers—it requires infrastructure, training, and resources. That’s where N5BRZ Cares comes in. As a nonprofit organization, we provide the means to fund Brazos County ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service), ensuring that trained operators and emergency communicators have the equipment, technology, and support they need to relay Skywarn reports efficiently.
By partnering with N5BRZ Cares, you are directly contributing to a stronger, more prepared community. Your support helps maintain and expand emergency communication capabilities, ensuring that when severe weather strikes, the information gets where it’s needed—fast. Whether through financial contributions, equipment sponsorships, or collaborative efforts, your involvement strengthens the link between Skywarn, ARES, and the safety of Brazos County.
Together, we can ensure that critical weather reports are heard, shared, and acted upon—because seconds matter in an emergency.
