N5BRZ Cares is a Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to support local amateur radio emergency services. We are managed by a dedicated board of directors and composed of volunteers and supporters who share a commitment to public safety, emergency preparedness, and community resilience.
"As the Emergency Coordinator for Brazos County ARES, I rely on N5BRZ Cares to help us stay mission ready. Their support ensures our team has the training and tools needed to respond when we're called."
- Ron Hambric
We provide financial and logistical support to the Brazos County ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service) group. This includes funding communications infrastructure, maintaining emergency equipment such as the ARES trailer, and supporting training and deployment readiness. Our work enables ARES volunteers to respond quickly and effectively during times of crisis.
"As the Emergency Coordinator in a neighboring county, I've seen firsthand how N5BRZ Cares strengthens the entire region. Their support of Brazos County ARES doesn't just stop at the county line; it raises the standard of readiness for all of us in the Brazos Valley. When they're mission ready, we all benefit from a stronger, more resilient network."
- Larry Shiver
Reliable emergency communication can save lives. When traditional systems fail, amateur radio steps in. By backing ARES, N5BRZ Cares helps ensure that Brazos County is equipped with skilled operators and functional equipment—ready to assist first responders, hospitals, and the community when it matters most.
N5BRZ Cares consistently goes above and beyond to support public safety initiatives and to assist during both planned events and emergency operations. Their technical expertise, responsiveness, and commitment to service greatly enhance our ability to maintain effective communications and situational awareness. Through their mentorship and support, I was also able to successfully obtain my Amateur Radio Technician license, further strengthening our emergency communication capabilities. Their partnership directly contributes to our community’s overall preparedness and resilience.
